Mark

Mark:

Facts:
- 24 years old
- Adam's younger brother
- in love with Adam's fiancee, jealous of Adam's personality
- hardworking and organized, but slightly irrational

The ultimate in sibling rivalry - Malcolm (left) is basically the genius brother and does everything he's supposed to, but is still put upon. Reese (right) is a total screw-up, but extremely well-liked by both family and friends.

Mark is definitely on the office track. He starts out small, but will eventually run his own business and provide well for a future family.

A good bad movie example - Ben Stiller follows the rule and leads a good life, but good things always happen to his lovable-but-idiotic neighbor.

Sibling rivalry in a game of Halloween musical chairs.

Graduates from college first and follows all the rules.

His video store would be much more organized and meticulous than Adam's is.

A real-life inspiration for Mark: real-life Adam's real-life roommate, Tom. On a very separate path from Adam and a bit more childlike, but aggressively competitive.

Another real-life inspiration - Mark/Tom still acts like a kid and does ridiculous things to get the attention of those around him.

Despite his flaws, he still just wants to be wanted and wants friends. Holds on to stuff and will not let go.

Mark is just a little lonely and if he doesn't do something drastic (ie: hold up his brother's video store) he's scared he may end up alone, despite all of his efforts toward the contrary.

Adam

Adam:

Facts:
- manager at Village Video
- 28 years old
- about to get married
- happy about where he is in life

This is basically the epitome of Village Video - small town, homey, and just a little bit ironic.

The real-life inspiration for Adam = the real-life Adam, manager of Village Video. Fun loving and not very serious.

The Village Video bowling tournament, circa 2002. Definitely the kind of place that has bowling tournaments between the branches of its store. Adam was always a good bowler and even when we lost, he stole the trophy for our store.

A staple and must-have.

No matter how cold it is outside, Adam is always in flip flops.

No matter how hot it is, Adam is always in a beanie.

Small-town, goofy charm. Pretty much represented by a Polaroid picture.

Always hanging out with friends.

Popular kid in high school - engaged to marry his prom date.

Would rather have a good time than not.

Maybe not particularly ready to get married.

If he had gone to college, definitely would have chosen one like Slippery Rock, based on the name alone
